Application to Cambridge Programme at Brentsville District High School
If you are applying to the Cambridge Programme at Brentsville District High School, you will need to submit two to three teacher recommendations in addition to completing the Specialty Program (Cambridge Programme) online application. The recommendation form is also an online form. Teachers should complete the recommendation form online on Brentsville District High School's Web site. All forms are due by February 15, 2012.

SCA Valentine's Dance
The SCA will be sponsoring a dance for students of Stonewall Middle School on Friday, February 10 from 5-7 pm. Parent volunteers are needed to assist with ticket sales during lunches the week of February 6-10. If you have some free time and would like to help, please contact Mrs. Wiersberg in the main office or wiersbta@pwcs.edu.
Sabres Night Coming Soon!!
The PTA will once again be raffling off baskets of goodies at Sabres Night this year, scheduled for March 15. We will also be incorporating a silent auction, to the extent we receive enough donations. We're asking local businesses for donations, and this year we are also asking families for donations as well. Please consider donating a gift card or other new item on behalf of your family or a home business that you may run. We will be listing and thanking all sponsors at the event, so please be sure to send me an email with your family's name or business or donated item. Donations may be delivered to the front office, but please be sure to label them for the PTA. I am also happy to pick them up for you if necessary. All donations should be made no later than March 1, 2012. Please contact me if you have any questions at Kristanewton@yahoo.com. Remember, our PTA has obtained 501(c)(3) non-profit status, which means that donations are fully tax-deductible (depending on your individual tax situation). As always, thanks so much for your help.

Rising 9th Grade Breakfast at SJHS
Stonewall Jackson High School will host a breakfast on February 4, 2012 at 9:00 am for rising 9th grade students and their parents. Please see the attached flyer for additional information.
SMS Student Wins $5,000 Scholarship!
Noshin Tabbasum, an 8th grade student at Stonewall Middle School is pictured with Mr. John Miller, Principal with a $5,000 check she won for her college fund from the Dare to Dream Foundation. She won the award for her project on her wanting to be a theoretical physicist. She was awarded the check at the school's Achievement Assembly in front of her 8th grade classmates. It is one of twelve awards across the country.
Concussion Training
Season IV Tryouts begin March 26....please check back for new class dates and times in March.
All students and parents will have to take an informational concussion class in order for their child to try out for a sports team. Both student and guardian will have to sign a form at the conclusion of the class. If this is not completed, your child will not be allowed to stay after school for any sport. Please check our web site throughout the year for dates the class will be available. Classes will be held January 12 at 6:00 pm or on January 18 at 7:00 pm for Season III sports. Additional dates will be announced in March for Season IV sports.

SCA Engraved Brick Fundraiser
Stonewall Middle School's SCA will be selling engraved bricks. These bricks will be placed in a path to be constructed around our flag pole in the Spring. Bricks will be for sale until January 31, 2011. Proceeds will be used to for the beautification of Stonewall Middle School's grounds! Inclement Weather Policy
With wintry weather around the corner Prince William Public School officials are reminding parents it is important to listen to local media reports and to check the School Division's web site at www.pwcs.edu for any messages about changes in school schedules. No announcement will be made if schools are operating on a normal schedule. Please read the attached letter for more information in English or Spanish.
